Trip Planning Guide: Paris Air Show

Paris Air Show is known as the world’s largest and oldest aerospace exhibition type trade show. The Paris Air Show 2019 will gather aviation professionals and enthusiasts together for the 53rd time in its history. This bi-annual event will be held North of Paris at the Parc des Expositions of Le Bourget (LFPB), from 17 to 23 June 2019. 
 
The Air Show week is divided into two distinctive periods:
  • Monday, June 17 - Thurday, June 20:  Trade show will be open for the first 4 days for the industry professionals only.
    The trade visitors are requested to present a business card or professional identification as a proof of connection to the aeronautical industry.
     
  • Friday, June 21 - Sunday, June 23: Air Show will be open the last 3 days of the week to the general public from 08:30 to 18:00 local time.

Security

Security level: 3 

Crime, mostly in the form of petty theft, is the security concern in France that is most likely to affect travelers. Racially-motivated crime has become a growing problem in recent years. Strikes occur frequently in France. Demonstrations and protests are common occurrences in the country. The threat of terrorism remains a significant concern across France.

Permit Requirements

Private flights into France do not require any landing permission. 

 

Landing permission is required for charter flights and can be obtained within a few working days. Foreign charter operators (Third Country Operators) need to ensure that they hold the TCO Authorization from EASA prior to requesting the landing permission.

Visa Requirements

No visa is required for the USA & Canada citizens entering France for a short stay of up to 90 days for tourist and business purposes.

Paris area provides a large selection of high quality accommodation with all major hotel chains available. Hotel availability may become limited and the hotel rates may go high close to the event period. Early booking is highly recommended whether you plan to stay in Le Bourget area or in Paris city center.

Closure Times

Special accreditation is required for all aircrafts and pilots operating into LFPB between 12 June and 23 June included. Accreditation is granted by the Seine St-Denis municipality (Prefecture).
 
Airport & runway will be closed certain hours daily due to the flying display. No aircraft is allowed into LFPB during this period. Please note the following estimated closure times (exact times will be communicated the day prior by NOTAM and on ATIS LE BOURGET 120.000 MHz):
  • From 12 to 20 June: 1330 – 1630 LCL
  • From 21 to 23 June: 1230 – 1730 LCL 
 

Airport Considerations

LFPB / Paris Le Bourget (Recommended)
 
Le Bourget is a 24/7 business aviation airport that will remain open during the Air Show, however, certain restrictions apply:
 
  • Special accreditation is required for all aircrafts and pilots operating into LFPB between 12 June and 23 June included. Accreditation is granted by the Seine St-Denis municipality (Prefecture).
  • Airport & runway will be closed certain hours daily due to the flying display. No aircraft is allowed into LFPB during this period. Please note the following estimated closure times (exact times will be communicated the day prior by NOTAM and on ATIS LE BOURGET 120.000 MHz):
    • From 12 to 20 June: 1130 – 1430 LCL
    • From 21 to 23 June: 1030 – 1530 LCL 
Parking will be limited during the event period and is subject to the available FBO ramp space. Event related and homebase aircrafts have the priority over other traffic. Large aircraft area will be closed for the static display. Therefore, only the aircrafts with a wingspan of less than 52 meters will be accepted for parking.
 
Customs clearance will be processed at the FBO. All baggage will be screened upon departure. 
 
Additional security measures may apply during the event period. Operators are advised to be prepared for additional checks performed by different authorities. 
 
Accreditation procedure: 
  • Accreditation is required from 12 to 23JUN included.
  • Application period: 02MAY – 16JUN. 
  • Applications must be sent at least 7 days prior the flight.
  • Accreditation is required both for the aircraft and the pilots.
  • Each request can contain one aircraft and a maximum of 4 pilots.
  • Following documents are required for the application:
  1. Aircraft registration certificate
  2. Aircraft airworthiness certificate
  3. Passports for all pilots
  4. Pilot licenses of all pilots
 
Each aircraft and pilot will obtain an accreditation reference number. The reference numbers must be indicated in the FPL section 18/RMK.
 
Each accreditation remains valid during the entire Air Show.

Ground Handler Information

Dassault Falcon Services is the recommended ground handler at LFPB/Paris Le Bourget.

  • Only 12 kilometers away from Paris
  • All types of aircraft at Le Bourget are welcomed, up to Boeing BBJ size
  • In 2019, Dassault Falcon Service FBO received the IS-BAH stage I accreditation in recognition of its commitment to implementing the highest levels of safety
  • The FBO was voted #1 at Paris-Le Bourget Airport in 2018 bu Aviation International News (AIN)

VISIT DASSAULT FALCON SERVICES
LFPT/Pontoise

Paris Pontoise Cormeilles (LFPT) is located within 20miles / 45 min drive from Le Bourget. During the air show period 12-23JUN the airport has a temporary status of an Airport of Entry with the customs available and also the airport limitation of MTOW of 17 tons is lifted.  LFPT is a 24/7 airport, however, ATC services are only provided during the daytime: 0800-2130 local. There are no slot/PPR requirements. Operators are to note the runway is shorter (1689 m / 5541 ft).

LFOB/Beauvais

Paris Beauvais Tillé (LFOB) is an Airport of Entry and located within 50 miles / 1 hour drive from Le Bourget. Business aviation flights will use the main terminal as there is no FBO available. LFOB operating hours are 0730-2240 local time. There are no slot/PPR requirements.

LFPG/Paris Charles de Gaulle

Paris Charles de Gaulle (LFPG) is the closest airport only 6 miles from Le Bourget. LFPG is a 24/7 airport and primarily destined to commercial aviation. Business aviation flights are accepted if passengers have connecting flights. Business aviation passengers will access the VIP lounge and customs at the main terminal. Prior permission and slots are required. LFPG has a 5 hour night curfew due to noise restrictions: No arrivals are allowed between 0030 and 0530 local time and no departures between 0000 and 0500 local time.

Fuel

Value Added Tax (VAT) applies to all fuel uplifts in France. Commercial aircraft operators flying international routes can become VAT exempted under certain conditions. Please contact your World Fuel Sales Representative for more information.
 
Mineral Oil Tax (MOT) is an excise duty levied on the fuel delivery upon all refueling in France. Commercial aircraft operators can reclaim MOT for commercial flights under specific procedures. Please contact your World Fuel Sales Representative for more information.
